Can I Text My Doula About That?
Short answer?
Yes.
Long answer?
Also yes.
One of my favourite parts of being a doula is the ongoing support that happens between appointments, prenatal visits, and labour itself. Explore how my birth support services can help you navigate pregnancy, labor and delivery here.
Because pregnancy doesn't happen in neatly scheduled one-hour blocks.
Questions show up at random times.
Usually when you're lying in bed.
Or after an appointment.
Or halfway through a Google rabbit hole that somehow convinced you that every symptom is both completely normal and a medical emergency.
I've received messages about:
"I think labour might be starting."
"They brought up an induction today and I have no idea how I feel about it."
"Can I run something by you?"
"Am I overthinking this?"
The answer to that last one is almost always: maybe, but let's talk about it.
You Don't Have to Figure Everything Out Alone
One of the challenges of pregnancy is that there are so many decisions to make.
Testing.
Care providers.
Birth preferences.
Feeding plans.
Postpartum preparation. More information on postpartum support can be found here.
And often, appointments can feel too short to unpack everything that's on your mind.
Having a doula means having someone you can reach out to when questions come up.
Not because I make decisions for you.
But because sometimes you need a sounding board.
Sometimes you need information.
And sometimes you just need someone to say, "That makes sense. Let's talk through it."
Replacing the Google Spiral
Listen, we've all done it.
You search one thing.
Then another.
Then fifteen more things.
And somehow you've ended up reading a forum post from 2012 that's made you question everything.
One of the benefits of doula support is having someone you can actually talk to instead.
Someone who knows your situation.
Someone who can help point you toward reliable information.
Someone who can help you sort through the noise.
Your Support Starts Now
Many people think birth support begins when contractions start.
But for me, support starts much earlier than that.
It starts with the conversations.
The questions.
The uncertainty.
The excitement.
The planning.
The moments where you simply want another person in your corner.
And yes - you can absolutely text me about that. In fact, I’d love to hear from you.
